Title: Associate Director

Reports to: CEO

Position: Full-time

Salary: $80,000-$90,000 plus benefits

 

Work Conditions:  OBA offices are remote in the Portland Metro area; work happens throughout Oregon.  On-site lead for all Business Week Camps and activities.  Must be able to attend and work at Camps and activities.

 

ORGANIZATION:

Oregon Business Academy, a start-up nonprofit organization, is building a multi-channel platform to provide business education to students in grades 9-12 throughout Oregon.  This year, Business Week 2023 will take place at Oregon State University in Corvallis from July 16-22.

Business Week, OBA’s flag ship program, is a 7-day, on-campus, residential summer “camp” offering a project-based, experiential learning environment where students are challenged to create a business, collaborate, and grow.  Working in teams, students discover their leadership skills and abilities. They gain a solid grounding in the basic principles of business.  Students and parents alike describe Business Week participation as transformative.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to and working in partnership with OBA’s CEO, the Associate Director will lead the implementation and development of OBA programs. 

 

With an immediate focus on Business Week implementation, the Associate Director will recruit students and volunteers, oversee camp logistics and on-site management, and ensure that Business Week is successful for all participants.

 

In the long-term, the Associate Director will leverage their operational and entrepreneurial skills to build OBA with the CEO.  From operational systems to community outreach and engagement, the Associate Director is a partner in building sustainability into the OBA business model.

 

The Associate Director will be motivated by a passion to provide growth opportunities for students from all backgrounds to benefit their and Oregon’s future.  Skills and interest in interfacing with students, parents, partners and volunteers will be well-used in this management role.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage all aspects of current and future OBA programming with the CEO.

  • Solve problems, make plans, and build infrastructure to develop a successful, sustainable nonprofit.

  • Use entrepreneurial skills in operations and business development to solidify OBA’s place in the business-education sector.

  • Develop budgets and manage operations in conjunction with CEO.

 

Business Week Camp:

  • Recruitment of students, volunteers and college interns – e.g. 100+ students in Summer 2023 and growing substantially each year

  • Vetting, training and supervision of volunteers and college interns – e.g. 50 in Summer 2023 and growing substantially each year

  • Planning and execution of all Business Week logistics, including attending camp and serving as a resource and leader for all volunteers, parents and attendees.

 

OBA Programming:

  • Year-Round partnership development and cultivation- College Campuses, high schools, nonprofit organizations, corporations.

  • Ongoing Program and Curriculum Development for current and future programs.

  • Management of data systems to support program operation and planning

  • Support organizational storytelling and marketing efforts

  • General and administrative tasks associated with all of the above

 

Required Qualifications:

  • At least three years of professional, managerial (programs or people) experience

  • Relationship-management experience (e.g. schools, partners, or businesses)

  • Experience working with schools and/or high school students

  • Budgetary management experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, social media management tools.

  • Availability to be on-site for Business Week and other In-person programs.

  • A car to travel to schools and partners

  • Have a base in greater Portland area

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Passion for expanding educational opportunity for all students, regardless of background

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize multiple tasks effectively

  • Curriculum development, curriculum mapping a plus

  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and writing skills

  • A collaborative work style and ability to both follow and lead

  • High customer service orientation

  • A growth- and business-positive mindset

  • Spanish speaking a plus

Title: Nurse

Location: OSU - Corvallis, OR

Duration: July 15-22, 2023

Compensation: $1500 stipend (optional)

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a licensed Nurse to provide medical care for students and staff at the Oregon Business Academy Business Week Program. The Nurse will work closely with OBA Staff and to ensure the health and safety of all participants.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide medical care and treatment to students and staff at the camp

  • Evaluate and assess patients' health conditions and document medical history

  • Administer medications treatments as needed

  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid and basic life support

  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure confidentiality of patient information

  • Collaborate with the OBA director to ensure camp policies and procedures are followed

  • Attend staff meetings and provide updates on the health status of campers and staff

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Nurse license in the state of Oregon

  • Current CPR and basic life support certification

  • Previous experience working with young adults preferred

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment
